Approved Kybella Seattle

Kybella Seattle (Fat Reduction)

Kybella® (deoxycholic acid injection), an FDA-approved nonsurgical fat reduction injectable treatment, targets and eliminates fat cells under the chin (submental fat). The look of fullness under the chin is diminished as a result, which can enhance your face’s overall profile and shape. Clinical research has demonstrated that Kybella® is safe and effective when used as prescribed by your provider, with few side effects. It’s crucial to note that for optimal outcomes, Kybella® should be used in conjunction with other therapies like exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.

WHAT IS KYBELLA®?

Kybella is an effective, FDA-approved injectable treatment used to improve your profile by targeting and destroying those stubborn fat cells below the chin (aka “double chin”).

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH KYBELLA®

CONSULTATION

Before starting treatment, your healthcare specialist will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA® is right for you. Then, your specialist will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.

Please be sure to tell your provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

  • Have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin
  • Have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin
  • Have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area
  • Have had or have trouble swallowing
  • Have bleeding problems
  • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby)
  • Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk)
  • Are taking any medications, especially blood thinners

PROCEDURE

At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals.

Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.

FAQs

A small needle is used to administer injections of KYBELLA® into your submental area (chin). Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in KYBELLA®, specifically kills fat cells in that region. The entire procedure lasts just 15 minutes, and you can return to your regular routine immediately. There is no downtime following the procedure; however, some patients may experience neck soreness for a few days. Treatments should be administered once every 12 weeks for the best benefits, but you can stop anytime. Each treatment’s benefits normally last 18 months or longer before they wear off. It can take several sessions to see the desired effects.

A cutting-edge, non-surgical injectable treatment for double chin fat is Kybella®. Men and women who want to alter their contour without surgery and have moderate to severe submental fullness (the area under your chin) may benefit from Kybella®.

Though brief and frequently moderate, adverse effects are possible for certain patients. The most typical side effects are pain, bruising, and edema at the injection sites. Within a few days of receiving treatment, most of these symptoms go on their own. Serious adverse effects are uncommon. Use of Kybella® without a doctor’s supervision is not recommended for anyone with sensitivities to any of its ingredients.

The full effects of the procedure won’t be obvious for several months, even though you might notice some improvement in your jawline after a few weeks. While not as long-lasting, laser treatments are far faster if you search for an immediate cosmetic improvement. Kybella maintenance treatments should be scheduled regularly every 4-6 months if you want to keep your new jawline.
